Why We Forget Yesterday’s News

Someone is assassinated. A school is shot up. A celebrity dies. A disaster strikes a large town. Do we even recall the event a few weeks later? Why do we forget the news so quickly these days?

The ramping up of Jingoism and “patriotic” racial purity by our country is not particularly novel in our world.

Learn the 20th century history of the Ottoman Empire and Modern Turkey.

They still deny the Armenian Holocaust! They do not allow it to be taught in schools.

If you wonder why people can still follow the GOP when they are clearly shown to be toxic, recall this:

Advertising companies were able to convince people that smoking was cool and enjoyable, while admitting that it may cause cancer.

And people kept doing it.

The GOP knows how to sell toxicity.

What Cloud Dancer reminds me of:

Sickly color of dead skin
Face of the Witch in the “Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe”.
The foam on top of a water treatment plant holding pond.
What snow looks like in February
Sports socks after a few hours of playing tennis.

If you want this year’s color to be Phthalo Green, then start living it.

Cloud Dancer is cold, heartless, lifeless, timid, and afraid. It reflects how many people respond to despotic governments.

Phthalo Green is verdant, reaching out, enveloping, enriching.

Make your impact match your color.

Pantone Counterpoint.

Pantone’s Color of the Year is not their preference. It is derived based on global color trends across design, fashion, current events, and technology.

Plus, no white person has ever been this year’s color except after death.

This color from 2023 was more like white people…

I find it helpful to distinguish between Compassion and Empathy

They are not the same.

Empathy is when we feel like we understand what someone is going through or can imagine their pain/difficulty.

Compassion is holding space to allow a person in pain to tell their story.

Why is this important?

At Thanksgiving, we had two teachers, a child psychologist, a school nurse, an ICU nurse, a psychologist, and three accountants at dinner.

Too bad we didn't have any professionals to round it out. If I was still a minister, I could have qualified.

And, if we had experienced a number of serious hurricanes this year, it would have been Joe Biden's fault.

Long form writing takes a long time. They are not hot takes.

I won’t stop—but I’m disappointed that I have 10% of the views I had a decade ago.

I just can’t do writings less than 1000 words.

Too Much Information is Hurting your Mind (Part 1)

You try and limit the amount of bad news you hear from the tv and social media. But you still feel overwhelmed. Here is why.

Numerous studies have concluded that psilocybin causes cells of the body to not drop the telomeres as often.

This means that many cells can have up to five years greater lifespan when psilocybin is applied to them.

This could defer many effects of aging.

My partner has a four year BSN degree. A Master of Nursing and a Master of Public health degree.

She isn’t considered a professional.

Oh, but wait…she also has a Bachelor of Religious Education degree that she has rarely used.

That degree makes her a professional.

Elements which have been shown to cause housing prices to be too high:

—Hedge Funds and institutions buying up homes.
—AirBNB and clones
—Uber low interest rates in early 2000s and 2010s
—NIMBY development decisions.
—Construction costs and labor shortages.

Not on the list? Immigrants.

Everyone cheered the nurses when they saved us all during the pandemic.

And now, they’re not “professionals”?

This is a kick in the groin Prez Kevin.

I know several dozen current and former SWs, and I can confirm they are the most genuine, kind, and loving people I know.

I have not met an exception yet.

They are also fun to be around.
All of the most wholesome people I know are sex workers.

After seeing the expansive list of degrees the Department of Education no longer considers "professional" for Federal Student Loan status, does anyone know which degree categories are still considered "professional":
