Normally vibrant local retail areas of East LA and SELA look like ghost towns this week. People are afraid to leave their homes. Parents afraid to go to work.

It's incredible when people come up to me, a public housing organizer, to tell me about the issues with public housing. They're just repeating old, untrue propaganda from Nixon and Reagan and don't even realize it. Com visit a project and talk to our members and THEN we can talk!!

It's incredible to me that today we are doing everything except investing in the one proven solution to the housing crisis. It worked before and it will work again!
During the Great Depression, when our homelessness crisis was worse than it is today (1.5% of pop vs 0.17% of pop), we were able to solve homelessness by creating Sec 9 Public Housing. Almost immediately as soon as Reagan divested from these solutions, he birthed the modern homelessness crisis.
