I'm just another person on the internet. Y'know, just like you, or that weird thing behind you.
Mind it is also a civil case, not a criminal case. So prosecuting it would be through a lawsuit. The potential lost wages, incurred costs moving, and a probably year-long lease puts you well out of small-claims. This means you'll likely need a lawyer, as the company def will have one.

No, no. Promissory Estoppel is still illegal in the USA. Just difficult to prosecute against given limited resources, and limited interest by the judiciary to hear such cases.

So, actually illegal, but effectively legal due to difficulty in getting a resolution against it.

Wouldn't that be a case of employment rights violations via promissory estoppel?

Not that a suddenly just-moved, out-of-work and stuck with a lease worker can really afford such a lawsuit and see it through to completion.

Still, that's pretty fucked. Also likely illegal.

Thailand specifically, but I've had problems getting their block message page in Ph and southern CN though as well.

They give a page that basically says they made a business decision to not serve this region.

Wish us over here in SEA could read WoWHead. I know y'all blocked it almost a decade ago at this point, but its still obnoxious having to get on a VPN just to read articles or look up quest/item info.

Pretty sure they are talking about the Anti-ICE screaming dude that smacked a fed with a subway sandwich after screaming at them and yelling stuff like "SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!"

Why does this give the comedic duality mental vision of refined and utterly pristine secretary, only to completely lose her shit and machine-gun stomp some poor snek delivery person that happened to catch her unaware and spooked her? (Which would be appropriate considering the actual RL animal)

"Project A-ko" series of 4 movies, and some AU OVAs

It's entire reason for existence is to parody other anime, and it does a darn good job while also maintaining its own schtick.
Tons of easter-eggs everywhere, lots of both overt mocking and subtle nods.

It even got manga adaptation AFTER movies.

If I remember correctly, that was "Adventures of Tom Sawyer". This is a scene from the overhead view river sections. I had this game as a kid, but never finished it to my memory. It was difficult as heck.

Yeah, they tend to have predatory pricing practices, are often user hostile, and are often -creator- hostile. Also, have been on an absolute tear recently taking down pirate sites, having made a coalition of KR & JP publishers to throw extra weight behind it. Many translator sites have been purged.

This way they could allow it, but it would be a second-class citizen. Forcing it all through emulators or VMs would allow it to isolate bugs with it and allow it to be an optional part of the OS. Once isolated, it wouldn't need constant maintenance, only to match up with major system API changes.
May 23, 2025 at 7:57 PM
I think what would have been the best way to deprecate it from the main-OS would have been to either force all 32-bit apps to VMs or an emulation layer (like they did switching between instruction sets for their CPUs). That could remove _most_ of the main OS issues and isolate it, but allow access.

That said, while that is PC's major weakness, it is also its major strength. You can load up and run software from decades ago. Got an old device, plug it in, and it is likely to work (well maybe after a reboot). However, it leaves us with tons of jank, unstable platforms,& unintuitive shifts in UI.

I think part of the issue for PC (and we're talking Windows specifically) is legacy compatibility. We have DECADES of compatibility layers and cruft to support. That and the industry loses its focus on what it needs to do every few quarters to years. So we never get proper deprecation/cleanup.

I know they make food-scented thermal paste, but I can't say I've partaken in consuming them.

I got my heavy metals intake from other sources.

For those who don't use Spotify or can't, they have an official post on YT:

It honestly is a great cover.

I've seen a number of "official" translated titles censor 'problematic' terms. I've seen this on DMM a few times. This is probably to help avoid getting yeeted by advertiser scans and/or payment processors.

🤔 I can def see a rhythm game on that.
Different tracks/buttons for different reactions/Qs.
Getting the right reaction raises score/listeners, wrong reaction loses them.
Critical fails or lose too many listeners get you canceled (both sponsors & net infamy).

Are we talking "I'll never be able to show my face again" murder, *left them as a smiling puddle of goo* murder, *visit from the Sheriff* murder, or *old deity is now angry due to a botched invocation because the spleen was not at the correct angle from the right ventricle in the summoning* murder?

oh, yeah. There were horror stories of people either missing the transition deadline or it just plain not working.

I would still say give Google Checkout a once-over look to see if they still at least have that data for you to pull. Its worth a shot and should take less than five minutes to see.
