I'm not claiming perfection, I doubt very much many northeners today or in 1865 would have claimed perfection...but we are not the South. And there are many in the South who are not racist, would own the South's treason, but their lack of power speaks volumes for their neighbors.

There is an asymmetry here though: many people within the latter group define socialism far, far more broadly than the former group defines fascism.

I'm open to the idea that centrist in 2028 will be far left of centrist 2012/16/even 20...but then I would like to see folks talking about how the center of Dems have shifted left vs. hand wringing (not from Bill) about too far left candidates winning bigly.

Should our very moderate friends (who are welcome in the big tent, please do come and stay) begin coming to terms with the idea that this figure would need to be left-center (not leftist) and that centrist policies of past 40 years gave us current mess? 2/3
