It would be bad enough for the Democratic Leader of the House to not have the aptitude for meeting the moment but Hakeem Jeffries doesn't even seem to have the appetite
Asked about a Dem response to a Rep. Nadler aide being handcuffed by DHS agents inside his congressional office —

@RepJeffries: “We will respond in a time, place, and manner of our choosing… it will be continuous and it will meet the moment.”

BASH: “What does that mean?”

I haven’t been this anxious about the ending of a book since A Little Life. This is my fourth Colm Tóibín novel. He’s becoming one of my favorites.

This was a light lesson in Argentinian sociopolitical history wrapped in a supernatural horror story. After nearly 600 pages the ending felt a little sudden, but I loved the creepy mood of this novel.

Love @podsaveamerica.crooked.com but so tired of @jonfavs.bsky.social constantly interrupting his cohosts and guests making a point so that he can try to get a laugh.

@podsaveamerica.crooked.com on your chat with @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social he rambles about the talking points and past but doesn’t discuss strategy that meets this moment. The entire room here audibly laughed when he said he “intends to stay in the fight.” Still waiting for him to enter the fight.

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

This is a beautiful book about empathy. Less a novel than a collection of short stories, Olive is the connective thread, appearing as a supporting character in the stories of the residents of a small Maine town. This one earned its Pulitzer.

This is hard because I love Chris Hayes and enjoyed his first two books, A Colony In a Nation and Twilight of the Elites, but this was difficult to get through. A book about attention that could not hold mine. #goodreads #booksky 💙📚

All these TikToks of his voters learning that his tax plan doesn’t get rid of the tax on overtime, tips, and social security, like he promised, but does give a $4.5T tax cut to the top 0.01%. My schadenfreude is off the charts.

This is a solid and entertaining work of historical fiction. There are a few anachronisms I was going to call out but then she addressed them head-on in the author’s notes, so I’m standing down.
