It is 10:06 p.m. on a Sunday night. I stepped outside to look at the stars, and I hear…a tuba, from several streets away. No other instruments, just tuba. Must be a kid practicing but still, what a strange thing to hear at this time of night.

Public service announcement:

Gay people buying into this TERF bullshit about “gametes” or whatever are the biggest “useful idiots” ever for the right because if you read this argument in even a little bit of detail you can see it’s easily usable to outlaw gay marriage and gay sex too.

if they want to go back to the 1950s, we’re bringing the cuisine back to the 1950s too. you put me in the kitchen, I will spend 100% of my time in there finding how much horseradish and shrimp I can put in Jello before God personally comes down here to stop me.

One of my least favorite mental illness things is when I’m experiencing what I have dubbed “depressedlessness,” where I’m all antsy and need! to! do! something! now! but whatever I try to do kinda sucks and isn’t enjoyable for long. And I’m feeling that right now. 😩

Trump Needs Public Cooperation to Enact a Fascist Vision. Here’s How We Refuse.

I’ve seen a lot of people in the last few days/months saying something like “if you, as a USAmerican, have ever had any warm feelings about this country or thought of it as anything other than a fascist state, you just don’t know your history.” And I’m sorry, but no. 1/4

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

To confront billionaire authoritarians, economic inequality and fascism, we need to build power. In MLK's words "We can all get more together than we can apart; we can get more organized together than we can apart. And this is the way we gain power."
As Billionaires Consolidate Power, We Need to Recommit to MLK’s Radical Vision
MLK was assassinated on the cusp of a strike wave in a time of counterrevolution. We need his “revolution in values.”…

“Everyday, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the Men’s store. A catnap in your office chair. Or two cups of good, hot black coffee.”

So long, David Lynch. May your memory be a blessing. 🖤

Today I started organizing my lists of favorite music of 2024 (LPs, EPs, and singles). I have three lists going: my top tier favorites, stuff I enjoyed a lot but wouldn’t call any fave yet, and then stuff I heard for the first time in 2024 but came out some time between 2020-2023.

My most recent painting. I call it “Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash,” as I was listening to that Pogues album when I made it, and the concept was simply ‘what this album makes me feel.’
