I think usage of "intuitive" in game design discussions would be a lot more productive if people separated it into 2 categories - intuitive in accordance to real world experiences and intuitive from past exposure to similar games & existing conventions

Unironically tho gamers gotta take some of that energy about artists compromising on sexuality and direct it towards criticizing mechanical compromises & homogeneity. Right now you have massive herds of gamers calling for artistic compromises by demanding devs to remove tank controls and so on
Gamers will hear you made something slightly less sexy and will scream about compromising your art to external pressures, but no one would defend me if I made a game where you had to double tap to dash :(

Think the most clear demo of why you need principles for game design eval is playing frustrating games. Esto me ha traído recuerdos de cuando me echaron de Pyro Studios por brecha de confianza en terminar mi juego en la fecha prevista, atomizaron a mi equipo para apuntalar los agotados equipos de Commandos 2 y Praetorians, y luego Commandos 2 salió con un año de retraso y Praetorians con dos.
Se agradece que uno de los youtubers top en España como @baitybait.bsky.social se haga eco, investigue y haga un video sobre cómo Rockstar ha echado a más del 30 trabajadores por intentar sindicalizarse y con ello haya comprometido el GTA VI también.

I think critics,devs,audiences should treasure & protect unintuitive genre abstractions. Like static cameras in survival horror games. The fact that its tied to a genre makes it a known language to players. & that's a beautiful thing cuz devs wont have to do the teaching every time they use it
