I know it's sound a very optimistic, but when I am feeding my I see month old baby and look in to their eyes (when open); I am hopeful for the future.

Agree. Pushback is essential. It always is. Bullies do more damage, not less, when unopposed. Of course one can still pick one's battles wisely, and one's tactics and strategies wisely. But assertiveness and countervailing power are absolutely essential.
Not being tough with Trump is a sign that nothing was learned from appeasing Putin. Unless you put your foot down really hard, it will only get worse and worse.
