RSPB still prefers licensing scheme for driven grouse shooting rather than a ban, but its 5yr policy review is due in Oct 2025, based on whether it considers 'effective reform' has been delivered since 2020.

No evidence of 'effective reform' that I can see..

To the heathland for #SpringStories today, where we’ve got great news to share!

A record 211 Nightjars were counted on RSPB reserves last year - the highest ever.

These nocturnal birds nest on the ground, with adults sheltering chicks beneath them until nightfall... 🌙

Following the success of the two Gazebo events held in March & May, there will be two more, 19th & 26th July '25 at Thursley National Nature Reserve. (Moat Car Park)
As well as signing up new RSPB members, we try to educate visitors about the special birds & wildlife that breed at Thursley Common.

Should also be mentioned that those visiting to see the #SevisWarbler ought not to be standing on the bank to see it, but we understand that along with the 2nd hide its the only place to see it. 🙏

🚨 620,000 songbirds were illegally trapped and killed in Cyprus in autumn 2024 alone.

A new report by @birdlifecyprus.bsky.social reveals mist net trapping is on the rise in the Republic of Cyprus, driven by organised trappers.

Action is needed now.
