Okay those numbers aren't factual but speaking as someone who did medical billing for several years, it's not so far a stretch as to pull something

Case in point. Layers upon layers of greed, like the world's shittiest cake.
so, today I got the surgery center where I got my deviated septum fixed to send me an itemized bill so I could submit to my FSA for reimbursement
my out of pocket cost: $473
what my insurance paid: $4258
what they tried to charge my insurance (not a misprint): $173692

I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

In all the arguing over the ACA subsidies, has anyone asked why those premiums are so absurd in the first place? The insurance companies are gleefully jacking up prices even above and beyond the gauging from pharmaceutical companies. That’s a lot of taxes that are being extracted from EVERYONE.

It is actively harmful to patients, adds unnecessary strain for providers just trying to get paid, and steals wealth from both those directly involved and those that have to make up the difference, be they other policy holders or just the tax payers.

A business model that relies on doing absolutely anything to avoid paying out on a policy is inherently biased against the people relying on it paying out to cover survival. Health insurance in particular needs to be dismantled.

Somehow I always default to the assumption that in healthcare the care is the whole point. That’s how it SHOULD be, but since when has an insurance company cared even a bit about the people they force into betting against their own health?

Then again, this seems like one more layer of exhaust the patient / doctor so they give up and let the claim denial stand. That seems far more likely.

Ah yes, that famous form of fighting where you... *checks notes* surrender in order to leave things even worse than if you hadn't. Yes, I can see you are continuing your record of fighting for healthcare.
It's wild that you can name consequences after you blatantly disregarded them.

And hey, I finally reached level 2! It is truly boggling the way they made classes level at different rates BUT ALSO have a whole slew of class specific ways to gain experience. In the time it took me to reach level 2, three other party members leveled up twice, though the rates change.

It also, as it turns out, was able to pass without trace and could change form into… the receptionist at the Guild of CHAOS. (Yes, it really is called that.)
I guess I am okay with holding back on taking a swing at it when it decided to talk to us despite getting the drop on the group.
