This place seems to be taking off so better do a pinned tweet - we've had a few books in recent years, so if you're into the history of Irish neuroscience, or art and the brain, or Irish mythology, there should be something for you here:
Is anyone else getting a ton of spam emails lately offering to promote your books? I'm talking 8 to 10 per day, mostly caught by the spam filter but one or two get through

They look like Chernobyl Hellhounds to me...
Some of the stray dogs living near Chernobyl have recently turned blue. This confused scientists for weeks, until they realized they had simply been rolling around in chemicals from a nearby set of portable toilets. 14/10 for all

Good to see someone involved in the field describing the techbro fantasies as “bullshit”. But note the link between this nonsense and eugenicist ideas from Altman. These people are rich, stupid and influential, which = dangerous.

Have a #painting why don't you. "Bantry Brendan" was painted because I like sitting in the west Cork town eating a sandwich as I look up at the sculpture, by Imogen and Ian Stuart, of Brendan the Navigator looking out to the Atlantic - or Bantry Bay at least. #SpeirGhorm #ArtYear

Excellent City performance today, looked very composed. Jerry D is finally starting to deliver, Savinho needs to do the same. Nico G's apprenticeship going very well, and Nico O doing a brilliant job as makeshift left back - he's an attacking midfielder, which no pundit seems to realise. #mcfc

There's been a great deal of debate about how safe Dublin city centre is, but when we @dublininquirer.com looked for data to resolve this, we couldn't find much useful – so we commissioned a survey to try to add some facts/data to the debate. Today we've published five articles about the results. 1/

Annual reminder to businesses in Ireland - stop trying to make Black Friday a thing over here. Black Friday is the day off Americans get after thanksgiving. Give us a day off at the end of November and then we can talk about your little sale or whatever you're trying to flog

OpenAI pirated large numbers of books and used them to train models.

OpenAI then deleted the dataset with the pirated books, and employees sent each other messages about doing so.

A lawsuit could now force the company to pay $150,000 per book, adding up to billions in damages.

A nice shift in perceived colour between central and peripheral vision. The fixated disc looks purple while the others look blue.

The effect presumably comes from the absence of S-cones in the fovea.
