i have an RP character i WISH i'd gone through the work of writing as trans from the start because golly gee was her entire arc so painfully trans my egg cracked and yet that simply cannot work retroactively for her
fortunately i now have a few trans characters i intend to transition down the line!

In general, I think the risks of allowing large-scale, government/corporate-backed censorship far outweigh the potential benefits of stifling harmful works, which is a category I think one needs to be extremely judicious about the application of, anyway.

well yeah, anything seems complex if you lay out all the details with specific examples in a big, unfriendly block of text on a website.
but DE isn't a big unfriendly block of text on a website. you learn all this as you go, and through interacting with these systems.
