In order to succeed in the global transition away from fossil fuels to clean power sources, we’ll have to build renewable energy in the right places — where power grids are currently the dirtiest and where building renewables can have the biggest impact. youtu.be/AAoTE_zjjlU

There were rumours Andy Serkis would return as Kino Loy in S2 of Andor. I'm glad it didn't happen. The "Can't swim" moment was a perfect end for the character.
That being said, how funny would it have been if, in the final montage, there was a clip of Kino getting swimming lessons.

NEW | Today we launched a new @ember-energy.org dataset tracking monthly wind and solar capacity.

They're the fastest-growing energy sources ⚡
Solar, especially, is booming everywhere ☀️

Initially, we're covering 25 countries – together making up over 90% of global solar & wind capacity.

Good morning with good news: How much solar will be installed globally in 2025-2030?

4-5 TW? 6 TW? More?

The " wild reality" will exceed many forecasts.

Plunging battery costs boost solar, with solar & battery or solar dominant in new generation markets!

Had a fantastic conversation with @volts.wtf discussing our latest @ember-energy.org Global Electricity Review 2025.

For anyone who wants some hope in these times, there are a lot of exciting things going on in the electricity transition. ⚡

You can listen to the episode now!
Today on Volts: every year, the think tank @ember-energy.org does a comprehensive Global Electricity Review, with data on who's generating power, with what technologies, and how that's changing over time. I discuss the "megatrends" -- booming solar, rising demand, &, uh, China -- with the authors.
How is clean electricity doing globally?
Clean electricity hits 40% globally as solar keeps doubling every two years and China's energy revolution outpaces the rest of the world.
