I bought this tomato as a seedling 🌱 in October and now it's a monster 😅 it still hasn't produced any ripe tomatoes, it just keeps growing!!! Any hints on how to convince it to stop taking over the garden and give me some tasty snacks?

New year, same lab work. Who else in back in lab already? 🧪

I'm sorting the junk that got scraped off pylons in a tropical marina, it's actually really cool!

Hey 🌱, a reminder to clean up sticky stuff right away! This was the label to a new plant pot that I left outside for an hour and this poor lizard got stuck to it. They came off easily with some olive oil, but be careful out there!

🌱 I'm so happy with how my succulent corner is coming along! Most of these are found bits that I've propagated, and now they're so big!

Today for #InverteFest I present the harlequin red bug, Dindymus versicolor, eating a fry by the beach.

These cuties are true bugs, like stink bugs and squash bugs, and therefore have piercing and sucking mouth parts to help them eat fries. #invertebrate 🧪

I'm just having trouble finding the event on iNat this time, I get all of them EXCEPT Dec 2023?

Come hang with us and post #invertebrates for #InverteFest! As an offering, here is an adorable jumping spider in the plant department of my local hardware store. Invertebrates are the best because in a single group, like spiders, you have everything from adorable puppy to terror monster 🤣

Found some EXCELLENT rainforest mushrooms on a road trip from Sydney to Brisbane. While we think of Australia as all Eucalyptus forest, there are some stunning patches of remnant rainforest in northern NSW. 🧪

I love going to new beaches and finding evidence of critters. Look at all these neat guys in Byron Bay!

All my gifts to him are cool cacti with pretty flowers I see on socials.

The one blooming here is dad's pride and joy, it's so prolific in budding he has 5+ pots of just this and has saturated his neighbours and friends 😅 it also will make so many blooms you literally can't see the plant!

Hey all! I'm Rosie Steinberg and I study how marine microbes respond to climate change. I'm based at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

My work takes me from polluted harbors to pristine islands and I absolutely love it 💕

I mostly post my dog, my fish, and my plants, but I do post science!

Hey 🌱 feed, I've successfully cross pollinated jewel orchids! I've bought some terrestrial orchid seed medium and am going to get some jars this weekend. Any tips or hints for orchid growing? Like how many seeds should I put in one jar?
September 27, 2023 at 6:55 AM
I have had excellent luck with jewel orchids! I use regular potting mix, water when the top inch is dry, and have them in a northeast facing window (if you're northern hemisphere then maybe southeast is better). Mine all just finished blooming!

The most common crab to find while tide pooling in Sydney are purple rock crabs 🦀🦑. They like to play peekaboo in crevices and I find it adorable.
