It'd be cool if the "increasing the cost of motoring hurts poor people" people cared anything like as much about cost to people who rely on public transport - who are disproportionately likely to be poor and disabled, and who consistently face far greater increases in cost.

To be clear, this is "unsustainable" in the sense of financially unsustainable increase in cost to the individual.

Public transport is far more sustainable in virtually every other sense but if you depend on it (through choice or necessity) you get treated like shit.

That's really lovely and obviously I don't know your postie (probably!) but I and all the posties I worked with really appreciated things like that so much. I put these on my door to keep me going on hard days and they're still there.

We have this ridiculous one. It's near a couple of schools so in the morning and afternoon it's busy with pedestrians but also there's no safe alternative for the kids who cycle to school. (I just avoid that road entirely.)

To be fair, Alice's bio is very up front.

I haven't looked into it too much but I think it's just chunky because it's not supported by anything - the tubes look strong because the shape is weak. Conventional seat tubes can be smaller because they're better supported. It's heavier for no real added benefit but will be more unwieldy.

Dillie had to go to the vet this morning (nothing major) so she had to have quite a lot of gabapentin so she didn't do herself a mischief or murder me and/or the vet. She will neither be put on the floor nor be moved fully onto my lap so her bum doesn't hang over the edge so she has to cling on.

That is largely already the case, although I wouldn't oppose some extension to this.

I think the flip side of that is that it shouldn't be the case that otherwise competent healthcare workers can't work nights if they can't drive, nor should we accept car ownership as a necessary cost of the job.

This bollard was knocked down before & reinstated less than a year ago. Either drivers so incompetent that they can't stay off the pavement or doing it on purpose so they can drive on the pavement to the car park. Meanwhile I get a load of earache about cyclist entitlement & the cost of bike lanes.

This boat ran aground in Tynemouth (~30 miles north of Whitby) a few weeks ago with one elderly man and an unidentified black powder on board and all I'm saying is you can't prove it's NOT Dracula.

This place came so close to being pretty much my favourite place ever - beer, coffee, loads of outdoor seating, ebike hire, overlooking the river, right by the ferry landing....

And then I saw this.

Pressing where it says "1 save" doesn't open it or tell you who saved it. Which I wouldn't love generally - although I guess it's not that much different from people screenshotting or saving links - but especially as there's extra fash around at the moment.
