On a similar note, Liberal parties in non-PR systems have only usually survived by going to the less-covered ground, in Canada that was the centre-left, in Australia the centre-right, so you're 100% right on that point!

I also read your piece, I actually suspect the Tories and Reform may attempt a merger at some point, as happened in Canada, which may be why Farage stole the name.

I'd argue we're closer to a multiparty era now, Lib Dems, the DUP and UKIP have all affected the agenda of the ruling party since 2010, and 5 parties won over 5% of the electorate in the last election, a basic gateway to seats in somewhere like Germany.

To an extent this is true, but it's worth mentioning Churchill won in 1951 despite not winning the popular vote.

3 Labour Parties and 3 Unionist Parties as well! Perhaps we should bring back this tradition of confusingly similar parties; Reform could learn a thing or two from the the Ultra-Tories.
