I think what radicalized me was having to stand in front of a Catholic priest as a child and reciting "thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife" and NOBODY in the room seeing anything wrong with a little girl being taught that women are objects that belong to men.

I had an art teacher explain how we illustrators are considered “art whores” to our fine art brethren.
He tried to say that it’s not true, we are valid artists!

I believe American nostalgia elevates certain decades as particular oases of calm and innocence amid turmoil. These "happy decades" fall every 30 years -- the 1890s, 1920s, 1950s, and 1980s.
