Monday morning. Back to work for the week in the emergency department.
It's not exactly an easy job but I'm sometimes struck by what an enormous privilege it is to get to do what I do.

#nowreading Cahokia Jazz. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. A Noir thriller in an alternate America in which the natives were never decimated by the pilgrims to the same extent. One of the most living worlds I've had the pleasure of reading into. Hard recommend.

Hey @iwriteok.bsky.social I was listening to your BTB on Scott Adams and you unearthed a memory of me reading the Dilbert principle at 9 for some reason. He mentioned going to a hypnosis seminar and using it to do office pranks. I wonder if that's where all his dilbert-brand Scientology came from.

Question for creative types - if you write a piece of short fiction or whatever... What then? I wrote something I'm quite pleased with but it's only 2-3 pages and sending it unprompted to anyone I know IRL seems weird

I was in the Vatican museums a little while back and couldn't stop looking at this sculpture/giant mask. The amount of effort, craftsmanship and practice that went into making this so ugly is just amazing. Some ancient craftsman spent thousands of hours honing his art to make.... This thing.
