A New York boy now happily living in NC. Music, sports, politics, history and animals, particularly cats. Liberal, equal rights, justice for all. No MAGA, ever. Still believes in the possibility of a better world.
I think NPR and PBS will survive, although there will be some pain. But they no longer have to be impartial or objective, and we can go after Trump and MAGA full speed. 2/2

I'm angry about Congress cutting funding for NPR and PBS, resources I value greatly. The inability of Trump and MAGA to endure any criticism speaks volumes about the mentality of these people; they would rather crush public broadcasting to silence the articulate voices that dare challenge them. 1/2

But the cowards thst run CBS had to punish Colbert for his pointed but not inaccurate criticism of Trump and MAGA. Free speech is dying, as we take another leap towards Fascism. 2/2

I am sorry and angry to see Stephen Colbert and the Late Show get canceled, almost certainly because of pressure from the Trump White House on CBS and their corporate parent. Stephen was smart, funny and kind, and deserved better. 1/2

9 people were killed in a tornado last night in KY. The NWS office responsible for that area has faced some of the most extreme cuts by the Trump administration, including the loss of overnight forecasting.

Last night, they were rushing to find help for the office.

Tonight's viewing: Threads (1984) A BBC production that offers a grim and realistic view of the world during and after a nuclear war. A more effective film than ABC's The Day After(1983) made for a tiny fraction of the budget. Somehow nuclear war seems less frightening in the Era of Trump.

Excellent and revealing interview today with Jason Isbell on NPR's Fresh Air. Worth a listen!

The good news for Springsteen fans is the announced impending release of Tracks 2: The Unreleased Albums, in various formats. 7 discs. The bad news? Amazon shows a pre-release price for the CD version of $299. Too rich for my blood; pass.

A major shift in global economics caused by one obsessive, poorly-educated old man based on outdated macroeconomic policies from a century ago. What could possibly go wrong?😡🤡

Now more than ever, Donald Trump is a fucking moron. So is anyone that supports, empowers or excuses him. And if you voted for Trump in 2024, you are responsible for what's happening.

Cat owners! Anyone else noticing that some varieties of Fancy Feast are in short supply again? It's been going on for a couple of weeks, and it doesn't seem to be a local problem. It brings back unpleasant memories of the early months of the COVID pandemic.

The Daytona 500, regarded by NASCAR fans as the "other Christmas" here in the South. Already ruined by the presence of that corrupt orange shitball.

I left NYC a long time ago, but I recognize a corrupt scumbag when I see one. Eric Adams is as dirty as a politician gets. The fact that Trump and his lackeys so willingly made a deal with Adams speaks volumes. Quid pro quo? You bet it was. This is the worst kind of corruption.

Why do otherwise intelligent people give a shit about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? (Warning: My annual rant). The RRHOF is not an indication of artistic achievement. It exists solely to sell back catalog and ease a few consciences. That's it. The RRHOF doesn't matter, it never has and it never will
