I worked at a non-profit botanical gardens and historic location for about a year, they went over the top on Christmas. It became sickening. Like some dystopian hellscape where those who are not jolly enough are tortured by elves with pointed candy canes then ground into reindeer chow.

I think that Bob Dylan did this in some fashion with his lyrics. His lines can be disconnected to the point of sounding like gibberish on the surface, listen to Desolation Row, but it still conveys feeling and some sense of theme or meaning.

This is something I've been contemplating personally. I've been exploring the idea of a more abstracted style of poetry. Words misplaced, out of sequence, nouns as verbs, verbs as nouns, adverbs as pronouns, whatever, just to explore what's possible, can it be incoherent and still convey something.
