Teratohyla midas was my first glass frog from the Amazon basin. The species name midas refers to a king in Greek mythology, who turned everything he touched into gold. A reference to the gold fleck coloration found on the frog.

Finding the Two-lined forest-pitviper
(Bothrops bilineatus smaragdinus) was an absolute highlight during my stay in Peru in 2022. I got to experience this highlight three times in two nights. Unforgettable!

The tail of the Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus) is a prime example of truly astonishing camouflage. The tail mimics a leaf successfully.
