Teratohyla midas was my first glass frog from the Amazon basin. The species name midas refers to a king in Greek mythology, who turned everything he touched into gold. A reference to the gold fleck coloration found on the frog.

I just realized I would do a disservice if I didn't mention Sabethes! Hands down my favorite mosquito. This photo was highly commended in @nhm-london.bsky.social's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. You can read about it here: gilwizen.com/wpy-beautifu...

This beautiful eye was hidden in the forest.
Finding the Two-lined forest-pitviper
(Bothrops bilineatus smaragdinus) was an absolute highlight during my stay in Peru in 2022. I got to experience this highlight three times in two nights. Unforgettable!

The tail of the Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus) is a prime example of truly astonishing camouflage. The tail mimics a leaf successfully.

Surinam horned frog (Ceratophrys cornuta). This might be the photo I was taking while getting Leishmaniasis. Totally not worth it. 😅

Let’s start “another new social media platform” with an Orange-thighed frog (Litoria xanthomera) playing “peek-a-boo”. One of the beautiful green Litoria species inhabiting the wet tropics of Far North Queensland.
