When we cancel a contract to develop new medications or vaccines, the world doesn’t sit still anymore.

The EU, China, India and others are now capable of taking our place.

We will simply pay more to get less.

Happy MayDay! Unions not only got us 8 hour work days, but also worker safety regulations, stat holidays, vacation pay, sick days, bereavement days, disability benefits, medical benefits & dental benefits. Without unions we’d still be working 12 hrs/day every day without any protections or support.
The 8 hour workday. We take it for granted now. In May 1886, union workers for Mccormick Reaper Works in Chicago struck for it, and lives were lost.

Unions brought us a middle class and a vibrant democracy.

MayDay commemorates that.

We cannot count on "free and fair elections" going forward. 24 states have bills for "proof of citizenship" and other voting suppressing tricks.

History is a really good teacher.

If we pay attention to her, she reminds us that populations don't become monstrous overnight, that nations don't abandon humanity in a single moment.

Collective sickness usually follows a pattern and we’re seeing it now.

I unironically use my local library a lot. Ebooks, audio books, physical books, the seed exchange, the meeting spaces?? Passport services?? Citizenship and English classes? I grew up in the teen hangout area as a housing insecure youth with a bad parent. Libraries are important, I'm pissed

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office.
2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor.
3) Donors make a huge profit.
4) Repeat.

For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

Simply believing that our leaders will do what is right is irresponsible now.

Trusting that everything will work out simply because it always tended work out in the past is a fool's delusion.
