Mark Peterson’s black-and-white images of ICE agents evoke film noir and the urban-crime photography of the 1930s and ’40s. “If someone is doing everything right, and then they still get detained, it’s a crime scene,” he said.

I think Trump is missing Murdoch’s classic move here. He lets what they have solidly get published, even if it seems small. Then Trump emotionally sues (see below) and discovery begins and everything is fair game. He’ll be forced to testify & all manner of files will be unveiled and chewed over.

I can’t speak for every city, but here in LA, ICE bounty hunters aren’t going after gang members. They’re hunting the vulnerable: gardeners, street vendors, day laborers.

Easy money, no risk.

Folks need to stop pretending this is about crime.

Does Prince Charming still exist? A spate of media scrutinizing the one-percent—including “Materialists” and “Anora”—attests to the difficulty of romanticizing wealth and love.
The Rise of the Anti-Cinderella Story
A pair of recent films, Celine Song’s “Materialists” and Sean Baker’s “Anora,” turn the fairy tale on its head, with mixed results.

Assassination, this was an assassination and every news outlet needs to be saying that. None of this sanitized language that doesn’t assign blame where it’s due for fear appearing to be impartial. Partiality is not what’s needed. Rep. Hortman deserves accountability for her murder.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar dined with Melissa Hortman, a Minnesota lawmaker and decades-long friend, just hours before she and her husband were shot and killed in what authorities are saying was a politically motivated killing.

“I wish everyone had known her like we knew her,” Klobuchar told POLITICO.

Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, bungled answers on Tuesday about habeas corpus, incorrectly saying that the legal right of people to challenge their detention by the government was actually the president’s “constitutional right” to deport people.

The first 100 days thing is a dumb arbitrary metric and I honestly don’t know why we make such a big deal of it. It really feels like made up filler material to give the press something to talk about. News orgs talking about “covering” the first 100 days and treating it like breaking news is stupid.
