100% this. We can argue about why. But it’s not arguable that a huge chunk of the country wants a dictator

We are all going to die
here's the thing basil-stancilists don't understand:

violence is pretty effective at removing opposition. that's why fascists and racists engaged in direct targeted violence until they'd seized control of legislatures and economy, and then switched to violence-by-policy-decision and police instead.

anyway the whole thing shouldn't even pass the laugh test: if holding unpopular positions at some point in the past decade was debilitating for a political party, the GOP should never be able to win an election again. but it does, regularly, because this just isn't how anything works

This is an underrated good take. Dem talking points are so boring. They are corporate/HR speech
My first reaction to this is that Dems never say anything interesting. It's no surprise they're ignored by media outlets that thrive on sensational headlines and chyrons.
Republicans are able to get the media to talk about the stuff they talk about in ads but Democrats seem unable to get their earned media coverage to reflect their paid media strategy

Predicting this now: Not only will Elon and Trump have a fall out, but I expect Elon to have little to no impact on this administration. The rise of the Tech-right wing is going to deeply regret associating itself with this administration.
