I'm seeing more and more bad metroid takes and come to the realization.
That majority of people's views on metroid on based on video essays about Super Metroid and Prime 1. While never actrually any of the games, especially Prime 2 and 3.

I'm going to be honest. While I feel atmosphere and immersion are and should be at the core of the non-gameplay experience. I feel like saying there shouldn't be NPC's in a Metroid game is INCREDIBLY restrictive to the world-building. And world-building is ANOTHER pillar of Prime.
My hot take about Metroid is that I'm not big into Metroid but I don't think you should ever hear a single human voice or see a single human face during the course of those games unless you 101%'d it, and then you get to see Samus's newest gorgeous visage say "congratulations, gamer" at the camera
