I'm in today's Times writing on the closure of Grangemouth oil refinery with @riyokoshibe.bsky.social. The workers we spoke to in our research want to be part of a green manufacturing future and deserve better. Grangemouth is the posterchild for the UK's wasteful and unjust energy transition.

This & YouGov's poll showing Brits give Zelenskyy +48 & Trump a -51 approval shows dangers to the right in UK of listening to the v. online/US coded in their approach to Ukraine. Brits really support Ukraine & aren't polarised on it. 52% of Reform voters entirely blame Russia
With Donald Trump seeming to suggest that Ukraine is responsible for the war with Russia, just 3% of Britons would agree

Russia is entirely/mostly responsible: 77%
Both sides are equally responsible: 8%
Ukraine is entirely/mostly responsible: 3%

The country voted for change last summer and for a new deal for working people.

Bidfood’s attack on the rights of their workers shows just how much it’s needed.

GMB members at Bidfood will have the full support of their union in facing down these threats.

Business leaders may thunder about job cuts, but their threats could backfire: union membership is only growing, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

From today, women effectively work for free until the rest of the year due to the gender pay gap.

It’s two days earlier than last year because the gap has grown for the first time since 2013.

We must end the undervaluation of women’s work for good.
