The Audacity of Albert Pyun

Up now on my free feed: On Street Fighter's cynically sincere charms.

Wrote this a few years back, tweaked some things but otherwise, I thought it appropriate to resurrect as daily stupidity seems to know no bounds.

Wanted to share some hard work done the director Tony Elwood and us at Terror Vision with KILLER. This is a forgotten slasher film from 1990 that was shot on 8mm. Here are some shots from the Beta SP master along with the new restoration from the 8mm. www.terror-vision.com/store/killer...

My essay for the box set of Tod Browning (THE MYSTIC, THE UNKNOWN, and the immortal FREAKS) is up at the @criterion.bsky.social website. I was delighted to go long on the great Browning and his carnie soul. www.criterion.com/current/post...
Tod Browning’s Ballyhoo Art

RIP to the incomparable Piper Laurie who passed away yesterday at 91. A wonderful actor who inhabited many iconic characters.
The one I always return to is RUBY (1977) directed by the equally marvelous Curtis Harrington. Piper's performance in the film is forever seared in my memory.
