A blog about the stuff I'm interested in. Most recently that's art, games and especially transit infrastructure.
Odd, maybe, but I want to think about building the kind of world I want to live in.

if youre calling paypros and looking for a talking point to use as a jumping off point, this is a great angle to go for!

alongside just wasting their time, hammer the idea that their actions are LOSING them money!
I know it's more about clogging their phone lines but I also feel like telling them their stupid policies might prevent (or HAVE prevented) you from getting certain Black Friday deals and that you feel forced to seek other payment methods MIGHT be a good angle for this point in time specifically

The "VERY LONG" warning is correct, but this was interesting to look through. I knew UBI type programs were tested, but I had no idea there were so many!

(The thread starts with general info about UBI, then lists a bunch of studies/experiments.)
I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵

I made this comic like 2 years ago. People have literally yelled at me about it. So, it's been gratifying seeing the Tik Tok baby formula lady thing blow up. Like, all these ppl that never used food banks telling you how food banks work geez.

@chrisbratt.bsky.social Hi there, I’m not sure this is within your scope, but a game convention fumbled the ball very poorly the last time it was run. It’s now- shockingly- going worse this time around. Would love more eyes on it to get them to see why it’s a problem.

#FFXIV FanFest is neither a safe nor accessible convention.
-People asking for disability accessibility need to have a phone call to prove their needs
-they then must agree to specific accessibility accommodations within 24 hours of a follow up email or schedule another full phone call.

One of my “wokest” beliefs is that if you improve the standard of living, give everyone a basic income and healthcare, shelter and good public transportation, you’d have less speeding. I seriously think a lot of speeding is born from a five times removed fear of “if I lose this job, I will starve.”
Just got passed by someone on a two lane road, speed limit is 30, I’m going 30, there are at least two schools on this road and sidewalks right on the street. Lots of pedestrians and many school kids. Still dark out.

Humbly, we’re doing something wrong.

Hand editing your Windows Registry is not something I would normally recommend, but these instructions are simple and direct. Do exactly as directed and you'll be fine. If you get lost/stuck for some reason, tag me.

Accessibility Missteps, Fanfest 2026

There's something unprecedented now in the subs vs dubs debate in that subs aren't being paid for & dub VAs barely get paid. The sustainability of anime in the west is questionable on both sides.

I remember being on a fansub team was a prestige back in the Tokyotosho days of subbing.
Ask yourself this: Do you want this to be the future of your anime watching experience, forever? If your answer is no, then act on it! If you are a journalist or anyone with a platform, talk about this! If you know such people, urge them to do so! Use my article as base! Now, before it's too late!

Just so it's clear. It's not allowing AI because it's trying to create a clean dataset for training AI. It's not because any of the involved parties actually care about human created art.

Demons can lie to you. You have to rebuke them categorically, rather than fold when they say the right words.
Vine is being rebooted under the name diVine, with funding from Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey.

The app plans to feature more than 10,000 previously archived Vines and does not allow AI-generated content.

The "Frieren angle" thing, apart from just being delightful, also completely demolishes the pathetic "AI is democratising art" argument. Someone struggling with a difficult drawing received advice from hundreds of strangers who just wanted to help them improve their art.

An interesting thing here, given the news, is that the secretary of education is the defendant in a suit accusing her of turning a blind eye to the operations of a child molestation ring that, there is no dispute, operated within her business from the 1970s to the 1990s
This is a direct attack on our children & our future.

At a time when we need to be doing more to prepare our kids to compete in the global economy, Trump is going after the agency that strengthens American education. Once again, he's helping our adversaries & competitors.
Trump administration to announce dismantling of much of Education Dept.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March seeking to close the department, but only Congress has the power to do that.
