Training for Boulder 70.3 starts tomorrow!
The cool part is, I’m doing this with Meat Fight, the most bad ass funlathopists and athletes I know; we raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and support athletes with MS.

My ❤️ is happy.
Visiting my colleague Song An’s math methods class and thinking of @triangleman.bsky.social’s puzzles and Nick Johnson’s current research.
This was the pick-me-up I so desperately needed.

A NYT comment: “Humans ate organic, whole foods for millennia. They got plenty of exercise, lived without plastics. Until the mid-1800s, life expectancy at birth was 39. Food may be good medicine, but it’s not a panacea. Medical advances—like vaccines—have doubled the human lifespan, not superfoods”

We’re waging trade war on the country that is literally known for its neutrality (and for allowing rich people to keep bank accounts).
Make it make sense.

The double standard here is stunning. Universities are losing grants, student aid, and endowments for being "too woke." But churches (which also receive federal funds, eg, for school vouchers, food banks, and marriage promotion programs) are now allowed to openly endorse political candidates.

In the spirit of @howiehua.bsky.social

I am excited to announce that I am an assistant professor of early childhood education at Colorado College!

I didn’t get a job here or anything, but I’m physically on their campus and that’s my title 🤣

Beautiful track in the Springs.

As an athlete, I now see food as fuel.
But I didn’t always.
Growing up, Diet Coke, Snackwell cookies, and published diets listing half a grapefruit with a boiled egg and black coffee for breakfast destroyed many of us.

I still have body image issues. But fueling activity matters more.
"It’s an addiction I can’t get rid of." Some women in their 60s and 70s have struggled with anorexia since childhood or adolescence. Decades later, their lives are still governed by calories consumed, miles run, laps swum, pounds lost.
Anorexia in Middle Age and Beyond
A growing number of older women are seeking treatment for eating disorders. Many have struggled without help for decades.

I don’t want to get sick. But even more so, I don’t want to bring it home.

We were pulled aside going through border patrol. No complaint. We told them CBD gummies were previously in a backpack.
They tossed our vehicle & let a large dog trample all over it. The dog damaged the interior & somehow we get yelled at by agents, blamed because of the potential trace of substance

A new view in an upside down world.

Tenure is the full.

This reminds me that if you stop testing for Covid, it won’t spread.

If we have no data, we can’t decline.
I keep hearing the question: What's the biggest impact of Trump education disruptions so far? My answer: Research. Data. Knowledge on how students are doing and how schools might improve. All of this is being decimated. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/u...
Are Schools Succeeding? Education Department Cuts Could Make It Hard to Know

Reminder that *adults* created the digital clocks & payments. Kids are living in the world adults created.

If they only see an analog clock and coins in math class it’s harder to learn! Not that it’s not important but let’s stop blaming the kids.
