These birds, I saw in Fort Bragg, CA on a trip up route 1. They were huddled together with Black Turnstones. As the sun hit them they got more active. The Surfbirds, started interacting. First with their heads down, then the open mouth chat. #Shorebird #Surfbird #Sketchpage #NatureIllustration

New study finds where birds are declining most. High trend resolution data reveals complexity of bird population changes. “This is the first time we’ve had fine-scale information on population changes across such broad spatial extents and across entire ranges of species,” said Dr. Amanda Rodewald.

A shorebird poster from me one day, but first I need to practice them a lot more. Some of my first drawings of shorebirds were wonky. These sketchpages are a good practice. They help me draw the bird a few ways and get its vibe better.

More migrants are showing up everyday now. I hear the swallows over head and as I sit on my porch a couple Ruby-throated Hummingbirds come to see what I am about as they go between the feeders. I love this time of year. I sit and deep breath it in every chance I can get.
