He/Him. I tell dumb jokes on the interwebs. Big 40k fan and growing Ryo Ga Gotoku stan. Im what happens when you give a moron a thesaurus. I maybe make a tabletop game one day.
My new obsession hobby.

I may or may not have ordered four Zaku II’s today. However, they were cheap and it wasn’t through Amazon, so I feel a little better.

Gonna start doing a thing where I just post something that made my day a little better as a reminder to myself to find joy.

This is breakfast today. I like strawberries and fruit is good for you.

I made this a while back and forgot to post it.

A break from the horrors.

Ciabatta with avocado, smoked salmon, and pickled red onion paired with cashews and kettle chips. Coffee in a Tigger mug not included.

Shoutout to the Vancouver mall in Washington for fucking up the dates of the Tuskegee Airmen in the headline on their Black History Month poster.

You know, the first all black pilots in WW2.

In a Black History Month display.

During Black History Month.

If you see this, post a knight.

To be technical, he wasn’t knighted until later in the campaign.

I want to make a point here - cooking is very technique heavy. This is pancakes made from Krusteaz. Fluffy as hell, tasty, and not at all doughy. The trick? Mix till barely combined and let it rest before cooking. No fancy ingredients, just a little care.

In fact, their model for post-launch content is the reason I bought the season pass. I strongly support Sabre Interactive and Focus Entertainment for what they did. They could've churned out a 7/10 cash grab and instead produced a Magnum Opus most studios only dream of making.

Where most studios would create self destructive ecosystem of microtransactions and paid DLC's, the only real purchases to make post release are for premium cosmetics. All the new missions are free, and all the armor cosmetics are earned through playing the game.

Space Marine 2 is gorgeous and brutal in equal measure. It nailed the larger points - rock solid gameplay, incredible visuals, great balance, etc. - but Focus Entertainment put their noses to the grindstone when it came to the details.

And still, it doesn't stop there.

But after Boltgun, I slowly let my hopes reach heights only matched by my excitement for Doom Eternal. I watched all the trailers and gameplay updates. I was ravenous for it. In a lot of ways, I was worried I'd set myself up for disappointment.

This time, my faith in the Emperor rang true.

Space Marine 2 had me hyped from the moment it was announced in 2021. I prayed it would be good - a lot of 40k video games border on shovelware, if I'm being honest. Even the "good" games aren't all that great. Look, I like Dawn of War II and Chaosgate, but they're not incredible.

Red Dead Redemption* (2010) originally hit consoles fourteen years ago, but the remaster hit right at the tail end of October. I love RDR, and while it isn't quite as good as RDR2, it still kicks ass. If you never played the original or are looking to experience it again, the remaster holds up.

TECHNICALLY, Ghost of Tsushima* came out in 2020, but the PC version came out this year. I've played this game many times over and it's just as good as it was on PS4. It's simply gorgeous, brilliantly written, a blast to play, and one of my few 10/10 games.

Total War: Warhammer III* (2022) is one of those games I couldn't get into when it first crossed my radar, but an obsession with it's sci-fi counterpart and a sincere attempt to understand it got me hooked. I may give other Total War games a chance because of my time in this one.

I've come to enjoy medieval city managers. Manor Lords is one of the better examples of that experience. For an early access game, it featured a stunning amount of polish and content. It's still got a ways to go, but I think it deserves a spot on this list.

Now for a few non 2024 games.

Cards on the table: I bought Unicorn Overlord solely because I saw a TikTok that featured an eight foot tall woman with a sword the size of a tree, but I finished it because it was an earnest attempt at making a decent tactical rpg. It's as if Fire Emblem was a good game.

I do love me a good boomer shooter and Selaco fills that role very nicely. I picked it up and played the content available at the time and its had several updates since, but what I played was both an action packed thrill and a stunning technical accomplishment.

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, while not a full game unto itself, still ranks very high in my mind. Full disclosure: I haven't beaten it, but it's on my to do list. Still, I found it to be a refreshing take on Elden Ring's sprawling open world.

Thank Goodness You're Here is a cheeky, clever, hilarious little game that stands as a poignant reminder that quality reigns over quantity. It's a short game, but keeps the jokes coming in rapid succession. Very fun and highly recommended.
