It’s #MosaicMonday and we’re taking a dip in the sea to freshen up with this marine life mosaic from Pompeii. It’s possible to identify the different species including the central tussle between an Octopus vulgaris (common octopus) and a Palinurus vulgaris (European spiny lobster).

My latest at Philosophy for the People takes a close look at all the passages about Karl Marx in Jordan Peterson's new book "We Who Wrestle with God":
Did Jordan Peterson Forget What Marx Wrote in the Communist Manifesto?
Judging by the Marx passages in his new book, Peterson not only hasn't read a word of Marx since he read the Manifesto to prepare for his debate with Žižek in 2019 but he's forgotten much of that.

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.

This is disastrous for HASS research in Aotearoa New Zealand. Speechless.
It’s a dark day for research in Aotearoa New Zealand and the ramifications for the country are huge. Minister Judith Collins has just announced our blue-skies funder will no longer fund humanities & social science research and that 50% of what is funded must have economic benefit.

I'm relieved this Amazon review of Jesus: A Life in Class Conflict solely blames @jc01229.bsky.social for being a Marxist! But seriously, lazy pot shots like this are frustratingly easy to counter - had this reviewer made it to p.2 of the book he would have encountered the text in the 2nd image.
