Sadly this is a pattern we are going to see more often as charities are forced to compete with commercial companies for Council contracts. Charities don’t have an automatic right to local funding but non-profits are more often best-placed to serve their clients’ needs.

The UK government has accepted an amendment to the Data Use and Access Bill, extending the soft opt-in to marketing emails to charities. This levels the playing field with the commercial sector, helping charities communicate more freely with supporters.
