FFS, my feed here is just post after post of anti Trump bollocks.

I'm sick of 2025 already and it hasn't even started.

I get it, really, but I came here to get away from this political shit. It's been a safe haven but now the algorithm seems to have other ideas.

I'm done.

Back into my CDs in a big way. Turns out I have almost 600 😲

Anyway, here is my selection for tonight's listening session.

Last week I treated myself to a Denon CD mini system and have been slowly sorting through my large collection of CDs. I don't have storage for them in the house yet but I couldn't resist digging out some favourites (my huge Radiohead collection is not pictured here, lol)

I popped back over to X this evening and holy shit, were truly are completely fucked as a species.

This is the most stressful thing I've seen in years and it's only the trailer! Absolutely brilliant.

The unsettling voice you hear is a 1915 recording of Rudyard Kipling's poem "Boots". It's beyond creepy.

The weather is howling outside so it's a Kid A vibe for me. Loud enough to drown out the wind of course.

My favourite Smiths album.
#5albums80sFINAL The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (1985) Probably the bands most fulfilled album - though not my favourite - and where it all came together in a great musical and lyrical leap forward. Just love this big, confident beast of a record from start to finish. #NowPlaying

I'm a massive Radiohead fan and they are my all time favourite band. And although my favourite Radiohead record changes with the season, this one has probably made more of an impression on my life than any other.

It is of course the mighty "OK Computer".

David Bowie's final two albums were among the best of his career. Right now I'm listening to 2013s "The Next Day" but will follow it with his 2016 swansong, "Blackstar".

Long day, so relaxing with The Unforgettable Fire by U2. I love this record, probably my 2nd favourite by U2. It was released in 1984 when I was 13 and really starting to get into music.

The production on this record is superb, no doubt helped by Brian Eno's involvement.

Listening to 1991s "Achtung Baby" by U2.

Although they have recorded some cracking songs since, I think this was their last consistently great album. They tried something different with the sound of this record and it worked.

It's so hard to pick my favourite Bowie album but Aladdin Sanes has to be in the top 5 for me.

I miss him so much. Feels like the world went to shit after he died.

Listening to my favourite LCD Soundsystem album.

Some tracks have a Talking Heads vibe (the instruments on "other voices & "change yr mind" have a strong Remain in Light influence), which probably explains why I like it so much.

Listening to "High Violet" by The National. This was my first experience off the band after reading a review in a magazine (remember them?) back in 2010.

Been a fan ever since and seen them live many times. Surely one of the most productive modern bands!

Who else here loves Spoon? 🥰

They're probably my favourite US band of the last 25 years!

Gimme Fiction, their fifth album, was released in 2005. "I Turn My Camera On" is a killer track, one of many...

Time for some more New Order, this time it's 1985's "Low Life".

This album includes one of my all time favourite New Order songs, "Sunrise".

LOL at the fake "28 Years Later" trailer that's all over YouTube.

I was introduced to this amazing 1967 album by my friend @bullantics.bsky.social in the late 90s. Proving that it's never too late to discover great music.

Plus I got to see Arthur Lee perform the whole thing live 20ish years ago. It was epic.

Listening to my favourite New Order album, 1989's "Technique".

Best track? Too hard, but tonight I'll settle for "Love Less".

This was their pinnacle as far as I'm concerned. It still sounds fresh over 35 years later.

One of the best releases of the year for me is Romance by Fontaines D.C.

My current favourite track is, umm, "Favourite", lol.

But the album artwork? Oof, not a fan! 😆

BooRadleys epic Giant Steps featuring the mighty “Lazarus” (such a sonic landscape created & the standout). Some other belters on this album, “wishing I was skinny” (just a lovely pop song), “thinking of ways” (mellow pop), and “Barney…(and me)” (out and out pop). 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I get the same vibe on a Sunday evening as I did 40 years ago when I was at school.

I think I need to retire so I don't actually know what day it is!

The greatest Blur album by a country mile. Every track is next level.

But "Trimm Trabb", phew, so good. It kicks like a mule.

It's hard to believe this record is 25 years old! I was just about to turn 28.

The unique talents of “Bright Eyes” with the seminal “I’m wide awake, it’s morning” album. From the haunting “we are nowhere and it’s now” to the stunning and deeply personal “Lua”. It was critically acclaimed, loved by those who bought it, but sadly overlooked.
