November 9th. #albumaday2025. Underscores - skin purifying treatment // A solid EP that mixes up dubstep, lo-fi, and some very vocally-driven songwriting.
November 13, 2025 at 2:07 AM
November 8th. #albumaday2025. Danny Brown - Stardust // You will not be shocked to learn that Danny Brown rapping over the production of several hyperpop artists fucking rules. That is all.

Had to pause in the middle of this King of the Hill episode... is Bobby reading what I think he's reading?

Ping-Pong Peril: another casuallty for the Shonen Jump graveyard. I guess the children didn't yearn for "Balls of Fury but as a shonen series." I did appreciate the closing chapter having aliens as the big reveal; every bit as coke-fueled as the premise itself.

Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga -- oh joy, a show I don't really like having an arc focused heavily on my least favorite character in said show (Izumo). At least the mad scientist villain was kinda fun, so it had more going on than Kyoto Saga.

Dragon Ball Daima: finally caught up with the last episode (was watching the Toonami broadcast). An interesting dive back into the supernatural side of the DB mythos that pulls off evoking the spirit of the original Kid Goku era. A joy from start to finish with plenty of fun new characters in tow.

Blood on the Tracks, volume 15: finally found this specific volume so I could pick the series back up. Probably the slowest set of chapters pacing-wise as it's dedicated to Seiko's backstory, which is sad in an unnervingly ordinary sorta way, but not quite as bombshell-fueled as other volumes.

The Summer Hikaru Died, volume 6: picks up damn near right where season 1 of the anime left off, with further explorations into the boundaries between the human world and the "Other Side." There's also a lot of fun Yuta Maki material, and the volume ends on *one hell of a spread, goddamn!*

King of the Hill season 11: KOTH takes, take... 11... that sounded better in my head--

-Another short season, mainly due to starting on a January instead of a September.
-The drag queen episode is... well it's not as terrible as I was expecting?

King of the Hill season 10: takes? Takes.

-Another weirdly short season of the show, looked like there was a lot of disruptions throughout its airing.
-There's also some issues with continuity, mainly Peggy getting a job at a newspaper even though she had that job in S9.

November 7th. #albumaday2025. Clark - Steep Stims // Another eclectic mix of electronic subgenres from Clark here, throwing together upbeat rave synths, lengthy hollow drones, drum n bass rhythms, and even some creaky pianos into the fold. Very PS1 soundtrack-esque (100% complementary).

November 6th. #albumaday2025. Blood Vulture - Die Close // Forgot that this dropped earlier in the year. The debut album from Jordan Olds' (Two Minutes to Late Night) new band, this is a damn good sludge/doom record, sounding like a mix of Pallbearer, Cave In, and the newer AIC records.
November 8, 2025 at 1:37 AM
November 5th. #albumaday2025. Primitive Man - Observance // Very loud, aggressively dissonant, long-ass songs with tons of droning bass-heavy guitars and feedback with pummeling drums and gravelly vocals. It is definitely a Primitive Man record, and it goes pretty damn hard as usual.
November 8, 2025 at 1:33 AM
November 4th. #albumaday2025. Hayden Pedigo and Chat Pile - In The Earth Again // The presence of Hayden Pedigo's elegant guitar compositions works really well in drawing out the intense apocalyptic melancholy present in Chat Pile's own lyrics/performances.
November 7, 2025 at 4:18 AM
November 3rd. #albumaday2025. Conjurer - Unself // Some of their strongest material yet. Definitely their most somber too, with a slower approach to their sludgy post-metal incorporating acoustic guitars and more melodic vocals. Sounds akin to a band like Cult of Luna.
November 7, 2025 at 2:24 AM
November 1st. #albumaday2025. Osmium - self-titled // A musical supergroup headed up by Hildur Guðnadóttir, this record is full of tense, cinematic, dread-inducing industrial compositions with hollow ambiance, thumping beats, and guttural vocals. 100% my kind of noise record.
November 7, 2025 at 2:17 AM
October 30th-31st. #albumaday2025. Snõõper - Music for Spies / Town Topic -- Checked out the first two EP's from this band. Incredibly lo-fi production accentuating this intentionally janky/lyrical absurdist garage punk style.
November 4, 2025 at 3:50 AM
October 29th. #albumaday2025. Downswing - And Everything Was Dark // Not sure I'd put this in the upper tiers of contemporary metalcore, but with some solid production and surprisingly good hooks, this wasn't too bad of a listen.
November 4, 2025 at 3:09 AM
October 28th. #albumaday2025. Coldrain - Optimize (EP) // Definitely leans a bit more into the melodic and synthetic aspects of their sound, but there's still some beefy riffs and grooves on this thing as to be expected from the band.
November 4, 2025 at 2:22 AM
October 27th. #albumaday2025. Band-Maid - SCOOOOOP // A new Band-Maid EP chock-full of anime OP-style hard rock bangers, with some damn good bass licks/tones in there.
November 4, 2025 at 2:01 AM
October 26th. #albumaday2025. Leon Thomas - Pholks // A short EP here that's got a decent bit of genre flexibility, from psychedelic and soul to even '70s rock. The vocals feel a bit less saturated in production tricks than usual, but the flows are a bit too crammed.
November 4, 2025 at 1:17 AM
October 25th. #albumaday2025. Testament - Para Bellum // This album once again serves as a "testament" (...heh) to the band's consistently strong thrash songwriting chops.

Playing a Halloween gig tonight, so here's a pic of me dressed as Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill!

...yes we're covering the theme song live, XD

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy -- well, I finally made it. All 100 endings of the game, now achieved. It is, without exaggeration, the most Kazutaka Kodaka-ass game ever made. You will emerge out the other end a completely different person having seen some things, and some shit too!
October 28, 2025 at 2:59 AM
Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc -- I'll have some longer form thoughts on this movie up eventually, but for now you will not be surprised to hear me say this movie is absolute cinema in every way possible.

Also have I mentioned Kensuke Ushio *never* misses when it comes to scores?
