These are all “speed cubes,” designed to be solved very quickly. They are all different “models” of cube, made by a bunch of different companies.
What do they all have in common? My average solve times are about the same on all five. Even the five year old cube in the 2nd photo.

One of the oldest watches in my collection. This is an English verge fusee watch from around 1848. The mechanism is an older design, notable for the fusee chain that makes it run steadily. (see 4th pic)
Even when new, it wasn't very accurate by today's standards. Still cool, though.

@dessadarling.bsky.social dropped some new songs recently, and I ordered the 7" single from the Doomtree store. Got an email, forgot that I had already ordered it, preordered it AGAIN.
They both arrived on Friday. I found them when I got home from seeing Dessa in concert.

I wound up all my pocket watches at around midnight on Halloween. Since I’d have to reset them all this weekend in any case, I decided to see how long they would run on a full wind. Most ran for about 36-38 hours. The Hamilton, 2nd from the right, has been going for two days straight.

Adventures in Watch Repair, today’s lesson: Once you start putting the mainspring back in the barrel, you can’t stop until it’s 100% done. Try to pause in the middle and parts will be launched into low earth orbit.
