Why do we live in a society where creating wealth for top % is the aim of life, rather than making life easier for everyone? We all should have access to the basics (heat/food/water/ect) and can work for the joy it brings and have the free time to live as humans? 🤔

Goldman Sachs boss wants more deregulation, tax cuts for the rich

Post-2008 crash bank reforms being reversed.

Govts bail out banks, guarantee their profits (PFI); tax capital gains, dividends, private equity bosses at lower rates than wages; rarely prosecute bankers for abuses.

They want more.

Starmer told UK must repeal hate speech laws to protect LGBT+ people or lose Trump trade deal.

Plus sacrifice the NHS, food and environmental standards, worker rights. Who governs?

No thank you. Don't want to be the 51st state, or US slaves.

Better to join the EU and Single Market.

UK Govt imposing cuts, silence on corporate welfare.

Billions in subsidies to auto, steel, oil, gas, coal, biomass, shipping, others to boost their profits.

Banks continue to receive public money. Received £70bn since 2021; to receive another £120bn by 2028.

Must have people-centred politics.

And from a country who has never won a war on their own 🤦‍♂️
"Some random country that hasn't fought a war in 40 years..."

Over 500 dead British and French personnel (more than 1,000 total European fatalities) and c10,000 injured in Afghanistan 2001-2021. The only time Article 5 has been invoked.

Some on benefits are 'taking the mickey', says UK minister.

Some may do so, millions do not but will be victimised by cuts.

What about those abusing the tax system, govt procurement, buying honours, impoverishing people with profiteering, selling dud products, crashing companies?

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*

Currently in Parliament, with too few seats for 650 MPs, only MPs who attend Anglican prayers and put down a 'prayer card' on their seat can expect to have a seat or a speaking voice in busy debates.

Add your name if you want the Modernisation Committee to address this: humanists.uk/action/parli...
Sign our petition: Replace parliamentary prayers with inclusive time for reflection
We're calling on the procedure committees of both Houses of Parliament to review the outdated and discriminatory 'prayers' system which the puts the views of non-religious people at a disadvantage.

Recently took a peek at Twitter and the disinformation is getting substantially more dangerous. Someone could get killed.

The tactics of constantly repeating outright lies, targeting specific people, repurposing years-old footage and presenting them as new is getting to another level. It’s scary.
