The piece about monkey farms I read last night was so depressing I almost couldn't sleep, so this piece about Irish cocaine dealers who coöperate with Hezbollah is a good change of pace. Two of the Irish gangsters are named Gary and Gerry, they are uncle and nephew.

I can never remember what those things are called. I always just call them "Those things from that one airport that look like they're from Star Wars"

When you dig into it, it is pretty interesting how much of Washington's global power in the post-War era came down to taking iron ore from Duluth, and taking coal from southern Illinois and the Appalachians, and combining them at preposterous temperatures in Gary.

We are driving the Winnepeg house guest to the Blue Line to the airport and I'm pretty sure I have found his 3:55pm ORD>YYZ flight and that it's three hours delayed but I am not bringing this up because I am ready for him to be gone.
