This is a good time to note that many of the Macy's parades from the '80s onwards have been uploaded to YT (often with the ad breaks!) and if you're looking for chill out/doing chores viewing you could do a lot worse.

I think there’s a combo of things. But one is that so many potential reviewers completely ignore all requests that if you’re a known good reviewer, desperate editors turn to you more.

But I suspect there’s also a surfeit of spammy AI-generated submissions.
