Interesting to see the two basking sharks swimming in aline together here with just their dorsal and tail fins above the water, you can see how someone might mistake them for a row of humps from a single sea serpent.

I’ve only just stumbled across the fantastic fact that Margaret Thatcher’s 1970s voice coach, who taught her to lower her voice and speak more resonantly, was none other than Catherine Fleming, who voiced the evil Animus in bonkers 1965 Doctor Who serial The Web Planet. The Zarbi’s not for turning!

Did some artwork on the computer in MS Paint today just like I used to years ago. I don’t think I enjoyed that style anymore, it seemed simple and scrappy. However it was very useful to remind myself how the software worked for when I decide to do some artwork that I do want to do. :)

Wrote to my Labour MP about the EHRC. I said in my email don’t you dare use the words “dignity and respect” and he hasn’t. Otherwise his answer is a completely expected 🤮.
I want to thank you for taking the time to get in touch with me and share your perspective on this vital issue and for relaying your personal experiences of the difficulties that the draft guidance will cause. As your local representative, I remain committed to building a fairer, more inclusive society and to standing up for our marginalised communities.I know April’s Supreme Court judgment has caused concern, and I understand the deep frustrations which you have expressed. Ministers have emphasised that while single-sex spaces must be safeguarded, trans people must also be protected. Importantly, this judgment does not alter the fact that trans people remain a protected group under the Equality Act 2010 and should be able to live their lives free from harassment and discrimination. As you know, the purpose of the EHRC code is to help relevant organisations ensure they can comply with the Equality Act, including access to single-sex spaces. As MPs, it is part of our role to make sure a diverse range of voices are heard, including the trans community, so I thank you for relaying how it will affect you and your familly. Ministers made it clear to the Equality and Human Rights Commission that the consultation had to be meaningful and properly engage with affected groups. I understand more than 50,000 people responded to it, and that the Commission met with people representing affected protected characteristic groups, as well as parliamentarians. The approval process does not automatically require a parliamentary debate to be held. If the Government approves the code, Parliament has 40 days in which to consider it and if neither of the Houses of Parliament passes a resolution disapproving it, it will come into force. The Government has given assurances that in its scrutiny of the code, it will consider equality impacts in line with the Public Sector Equality Duty and will ensure people have appropriate access to crucial services.

Just formally joined the Green Party. They are the only main party in the U.K. who are not openly transphobic except the LDs who are being very quiet about it which is not good enough.

Kudos to Bedford Doctor Who con, yesterday they booked Frances Barber not realising she was a massive transphobe. Within an hour of being told they apologised and booted her from the con.

I do like a good tunnel

Lovely 57 at Peterborough station on Wednesday. It was assisting a steam special but the steam end had broken down.
