"anti-Jewish sentiment must have been embedded in sections of the Australian community – the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023 was the spark that lit a conflagration." Israel's retaliation not relevant?

View from The Hill: regardless of whether massacre was preventable, Albanese has been found wanting in meeting antisemitism crisis
For all the government’s rhetoric on antisemitism, something has often seemed missing. It has appeared behind where it needed to be.

“The devastation in Gaza is real” are the only words in this article that hint at the main cause of the widespread anger (not “hatred”) toward Israel (not toward Jews as such).

Is AUKUS the biggest cover-up in Australian history?
Both British and American officials are saying there are huge problems around their submarine construction programs. But Richard Marles refuses to even talk about AUKUS.

I have no wish to visit the US while it is under the Trump-Vance regime, but some people may need to go there. Australian govt. should ask the US to give definitive visa approval before the visitor travels, with no risk of rejection at port of entry.
When members of the #Trump regime, and its supporters, visit Australia perhaps we should demand they hand over 10 years of social media history.
Authoritarians, and those who support them, are undesirables, and are not welcome in this country

Requiring foreign visitors to hand over 5 years of social media isn’t “security,” it’s unchecked government control.

All-seeing surveillance systems don’t make us safer. They are in direct opposition to our civil liberties.

Despite that, Trump is arbitrarily cancelling naturalizations for people from counties he doesn't like.

Even more US military assets coming to Australia. More US bases. More US weapons. Celebrating a dominant foreign government sending its military into our harbours and cities and taking multiple footholds here … it’s cringeworthy, tragic and wrong.

Australia is sinking billions into AUKUS submarines – yet defence reforms may reveal we already have a credible deterrent through the RAAF and new drone technologies. Is AUKUS necessary, or is self-reliance being overlooked?

Marles’ Defence overhaul raises an awkward question: why AUKUS at all?
Australia’s new Defence Delivery Agency may finally expose an uncomfortable truth – that Australia already has formidable deterrent capabilities through the Royal Australian Air Force and emerging drone systems, making the AUKUS submarine commitment both risky and unnecessary.
