It’s a sign of how insane the news cycle is these days that this historic failure of government policy got just one day of news coverage this week.

Not saying that’s right or wrong, but it’s astonishing how quickly the agenda moves on these days.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

"instead of confronting the hard questions Baroness Hallett directs at his leadership, Boris Johnson has instead devoted his column in this weekend’s Daily Mail to an artful concoction of smearing, distraction and airy British boosterism."

Disrespectful to the bereaved, and indeed all those Johnson let down, to respond to the Covid Inquiry's M2 report in a footnote to his column. This man should never be allowed to hold public office again, and certainly should not be benefitting from the public purse.

@cbffjuk.bsky.social
Boris Johnson has broken his silence with an attack on the Covid bereaved for "wrangling" on about the deaths of our loved ones.

He has no place in public life and must be stripped of all his ex-PM privileges.

My father died in April 2020.

I hold Boris Johnson personally responsible for his death, along with thousands of others.

All his ex-PM privileges should be removed, including £115k he can claim every year.

We are calling for all taxpayer-funded support for Boris Johnson, as a former PM, to be withdrawn.

Bereaved families should not be expected to fund the lifestyle of the man whose decisions led to the deaths of our loved ones.

Boris Johnson’s silence is deafening, and his contempt for the bereaved is clear.

His actions during the pandemic amount to one of the gravest betrayals of the British public in history.

His decisions cost tens of thousands of lives that could and should have been saved.

It’s shocking how much we have forgotten
In 2 days, the Covid Inquiry will release its verdict on decision-making and political governance during the pandemic.

5 years since the start of the pandemic, it's important to remind ourselves of why we are here.

Their now follows a broadcast from a former Prime Minister.

He went to night school then University, trained as a physicist. Married my mum, brought up 3 kids, all work in public sector.

Not holding my breath, given how Covid Inquiry chair behaved towards Johnson, Hancock et al when they gave evidence. We must not forget what happened, and we must understand what went wrong in order to prevent the same mistakes being made again. My dad would not have died had gov made better choices
In 6 days, the Covid Inquiry will release its final verdict on the political leadership of Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock and others during the pandemic.

This report will conclude its investigation into Core UK decision-making and political governance, known as Module 2.

He dodged the question, claiming nobody knows what impact social contact had on the spread of Covid.
