Great passage from #TheExpanse:

The sad fact of the human species that he understood so well was that you could never overcome tribalism and jingoism with an argument. Tribalism was an irrational position, and it was impossible to defeat an irrational position with a rational argument.
My first thought is always "if you need to layoff that many people, maybe you're not a good CEO." Then I remember their singular responsibility is to shareholders, not employees.
Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

Hey y'all, just a reminder that genocide, pedo rings, atrocity propaganda, coup attempts, bombing boats, insider trading, elaborate heists, massive wealth transfers, and all that jazz are NOT politics. This is organized crime and the people responsible are very dangerous.

I’m still shocked that stories like this which come out daily still get largely ignored. The most corrupt person to ever hold any public office in US history. I will keep posting them every day and try to amplify them, even when most media doesn’t care. www.wsj.com/finance/curr...

Schools in South Carolina recently sent home unvaccinated kids, to stem a growing measles outbreak. Turns out 5 of them were infected and, if they'd been at school, could've unwittingly infected their classmates for days.

That kind of precaution is now illegal in Idaho.

The Idaho Medical Freedom Act makes it illegal to require anyone to take a vaccine or receive “medical intervention.” Leslie Manookian, the activist behind the law, hopes to make it a “societal norm” ...

Given Trump and the GOP are intentionally cruel, intentionally evil, and intentionally causing harm to our country, they probably see the #NoKings protest as proof things are going great.

FEC records show Elizabeth Fago donated $1M to Trump's super PAC in April.

What happened next?

Three weeks later Trump pardoned her son, a nursing home executive who pleaded guilty to withholding millions from his workers' paychecks (while buying a luxury yacht).

Everything is for sale.

Really remarkable how we have gone from "former President Clinton met with the Attorney General" as a scandal to "the DOJ is the President's personal law firm, and every part of the administrative state serves to target the President's political opponents" as the norm.
Important: Note that Trump just posted documents plainly given to him by administration agencies as part of his quest to show Schiff merits prosecution. This is an open flaunting of the use of agencies to gin up pretexts for prosecuting enemies. (cc @donmoyn.bsky.social @emptywheel.bsky.social)
