The thing about outbreaks of infectious diseases is that you can only hide them for so long. Time literally is containment.
And the whistle always blows once people start to die ( in this instance babies). This is why we have public health surveillance and reporting.

Louisiana officials waited months to warn public of whooping cough outbreak
After a whooping cough outbreak killed two infants, Louisiana health officials waited months to officially alert physicians or do public outreach. That's not the typical public health response.

There's no evidence that the wealthy flee tax hikes, & plenty saying the opposite. Millionaires move less often than the rest of us, not more.

We reckon the things that make it "The City" -culture, transit, opportunity (& killer bagels)- will continue to do so. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

People make decisions about where they live for lots of reasons...

...and studies show that "tax burden" very, very rarely makes the list.

So, can we dump the high-tax scare tactics and move on to honest conversations about making *every* Hometown worth Hollering about? bsky.app/profile/patr...
Raising taxes on the wealthy won’t drive millionaires out of New York—it will help keep the city livable for everyone.

Our Chair, and proud New Yorker, Morris Pearl explains why he’s willing to pay more in taxes so everyone can afford to live and enjoy all that New York City has to offer.

This is a big deal. Still lots of work to do, but it matters that the court has recognized that HB900 is utterly, finally, indisputably unconstitutional. Now we just need to get Texans and lawmakers to stop listening to the people who pushed this dumb law.
What an utter waste of taxpayer dollars, spent defending a law that was blatantly and obviously unconstitutional out of the gate.

Texas parents want politicians to stop wasting our money passing unconstitutional laws!!!

The wealth divide in America has reached new heights.

We have billionaires taking joyrides into space, while the workers who make their fortunes possible are sleeping in cars, and paying higher tax rates.

That’s not just inequality. That's a moral failure.
