Tonight’s 60 Minutes opening segment featured Norah O'Donnell interviewing the self-important con artist currently in the gilded Oval Office. Thankfully, this wasn't a capitulation to trump, as the segment only succeeded in allowing his lack of self-awareness to strut his massive character flaws.

The claustrophobic authoritarian nightmare in Terry Gilliam’s ambitious film, Brazil, immediately comes to mind when I witness the cold soullessness lurking throughout this administration. Behind the slogans and symbols is a dark descent into a mad world where those who don't follow are disposable.

I return to my office after lunch and not only do I have the privilege of seeing the statue in the town Square paying tribute to the Confederate soldier, I have this knucklehead parked in front of my window. Aah, the Deep South. These folks are a loud minority, but the TN politicians support them.

Why Donna Summer? Dan Fogelberg’s “Netherlands," was a song of great significance to her during hard times. Here, she sings with the original LA Philharmonic track, and the raw emotion and majesty of her voice are profound. It was one of her last recordings before she passed on May 17, 2012. 2/3
