For some reason my SD to IDE adapter video has started gaining traction again. I've had over 3,400 views in the last 48 hours. And because of it, I have just crossed the 1,800 subscriber mark! Thank you to each and every one of you.

I realised that the colour of the menu bar on my PowerBook G4 had a little red in it and that's OK!! It's _supposed_ to be like that! I've been trying to track down a none existent issue, or an issue of my own making!! I'm still not happy with the amount of green but it's way better than it was!

I was watching this docking station for a while and got an offer for £10 so naturally I had to buy it. But it didn’t appear to work - it didn’t push the pin down to allow me to slide the dock slider over. Turns out I’m stupid and I was doing it wrong.

It boots! BeOS sees it too! Rhapsody is testing my patience.

I forgot to mention this: it's a Twin Turbo 128+ PCI graphics card for a Power Macintosh 8600/9600. I removed the VRAM on the motherboard and installed this and....

Out of the six sticks, five are fine. One doesn’t show up at all. All in all the system has 64MB RAM. 3x16MB and 2x8MB.

Just testing out the RAM

And out of the 6 sticks, five work fine. The system has a total now of 64MB.

I'm hoping that if I plug this into the other board, it might fix the video issue - if this board doesn't work of course. If it does YAY! But the seller said it powered on but no chime, so I'm not holding out much hope.

I think it's because I didn't have this daughter card connected (and didn't have one). This is the video in and out card (RCA and S-Video I think)

But it also comes with LOTS OF RAMS! Including some more VRAM.

It's filthy and needs a dang good clean.

I'm very doubtful that the 1.2GB hard drive still works but the drive sled is fooked.

However, the curse of brittle plastics as well as not fantastic protection for shipping has lead to a pile of plastics breaking off EVERYWHERE.

New thread: I took a gamble on somethin go on eBay that I was watching for a while but received a 33% off offer on so it was rude not to say yes. And it just got delivered! Now there's a method in my madness, the 7600 officially supports Rhapsody AND BeOS as well as Mac OS.
November 21, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Well that’s not a good sign.

R4.5 is a bit confused. I hope to triple boot this with Windows 98/Windows 2000 and BeOS.
November 20, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Hehe. It has a NeoMagic chipset that is supported by BeOS!! Here it’s booted into r4.5 from a demo CD. Getting about 30FPS from GLTeapot

And here’s something I’ve never seen before. A Pentium II mobile CPU. This one is clocked at 300MHz

To the guy who made the decision to make the CMOS battery super difficult to get to meaning you have to take the motherboard out of the laptop, may both sides of your pillow always be warm.

I ended up swapping over just the display and the RAM. So now I have access to the BIOS! I was given the original one and I won this one on eBay for £8. Not bad at all!
