Ok... who wants to try out my social media site for community-centered music discovery?

It's a fun place to hang out and talk about music, but it's also a pretty unique attempt to develop software *with* the actual communities who are going to be using it.

The official Prince estate account on FB posted this an hour back. This sadly clearly means that Ezra Edelman's nine-hour documentary, which would have provided a truly all around portrait of him rather than a gloss, will never surface. And that's a damn shame.

now that it’s over… not one word about climate change at the grammys.

despite it doubling as a benefit for los angeles fire victims.

nothing even from people who will usually take any opportunity to talk about climate change, like billie eilish.

a missed opportunity.

Chappell Roan is completely correct! Musicians are workers, and we deserve fair payment & dignity in our workplace. UMAW introduced the Living Wage for Musicians Act with Rep. Rashida Tlaib to build a fairer music industry and increase wages for musicians. We need your help to make it happen!
"Record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us?"

“what is the best organization i could support that’s fighting for that”

that organization is called @umaw.bsky.social

Thank you Chappell Roan for speaking up for all musicians - music workers, join @umaw.bsky.social in demanding passage of the Living Wage for Musicians Act to make streaming pay musicians directly and fairly. We deserve it!!

the DOGE agency will not have the authority to reallocate funds (nor would that be constitutional), it is a PR tool to create the impression that government spending is inherently wasteful and build political momentum for spending cuts
Hypothetical. I'm curious what people think. If the DOGE agency worked on the premise that half of all savings in a federal program were distributed as increased benefits to qualified recipients, would you consider the details ?

These are polarized times, but we can't cede the idea of "government efficiency" to the cynical right. What would efficiency that really helps people look like?

Public healthcare and college, no means testing. No humiliating red tape for SNAP, FEMA, debt relief. Websites for UI that actually work.
