i had an old prototype that was basically snake + pokemon-style type matchups that didn't really work gameplay-wise. was trying to imagine how i could retool it into a 3D action game and realized i just reinvented pikmin.

was messing around with a prototype in godot a few weeks ago and idk. i think getting MS3 across the finish line might be the end of my gamedev journey.

been posting too much today, but i just wanna say that i think the pachinko level from sms is fun. it's not Good but it's like a fun idea. I'm glad it's in the game. sandbird is cool too, i never got the hate on that one. there's no other mario level that gives me the same sense of vertigo.

i might be on my own on this but i find botw's UI sound design really annoying. its like robotic bird chirping. maybe i'm just projecting via bad sense memories but it really stood out to me when i was watching break the game.

read a bunch of ludomusicology this year that all said how unique videogames are because of nonlinear audio, specifically in the way that music needs to loop indefinitely because duration is non-fixed, and at the time I was like ok sure

repeating myself from 7 years ago but imo the most unremarked upon difference between banjo tooie and kazooie is that bk is a retrospective fantasy of pre-war innocence and then for some reason rare was like, oh no War exists in this universe.

turns out this does crash the game if you make an html5 export
doesn't crash the game so idk what else to do i'm just following what the documentation says and freeing the emitter on the object's destroy

losing my mind. guy made a 10 minute follow up video to "prove" that the "secret" item boxes always give blue shells bc commenters said it was due to positioning. all of this information is readily found online.

i have basically one last major expense and then im good until the end of november, and that's renting a truck and gas! it will be quite expensive and i can sorta afford it but then i'll be down to peanuts in my bank account
