Subject: Oppose Public Lands Sell-Off in Senate Reconciliation Bill
Dear Senator [Last Name],
I am writing to urge you to strongly oppose any provisions in the current Senate reconciliation bill that would authorize the sale of public lands to private interests. As reported by multiple outlets, including GearJunkie and SFGate, this bill would permit the auction of over 3 million acres of federally managed public lands across 11 Western states—without public input or environmental review.
This is a reckless and shortsighted proposal.
These lands are not surplus. They include critical wildlife corridors, beloved recreational spaces, Indigenous cultural sites, and economic lifelines for gateway communities. Places like the Tahoe National Forest, Mammoth Lakes, Utah’s Book Cliffs, and areas adjacent to Grand Teton National Park could be permanently lost to private development.
Public lands belong to all of us - not just to the highest bidder. Selling them off to fund unrelated policy objectives sets a dangerous precedent and undermines decades of bipartisan conservation work.
I urge you to:
Vote NO on any version of the bill that includes land sale provisions.
Demand transparency and full environmental review for any future land use changes.
Stand up for the millions of Americans who hike, fish, hunt, camp, and find peace on our public lands.
Please be a defender of our shared natural heritage. These lands must remain public - forever.

Hi, I'm the guy who used to oversee the federal government's agency IT telecommunications contracts. This is extremely bad. There is absolutely no need for this. Not only is it a huge security exposure, but the simplest explanation for this is that it is meant to be a security exposure.
